About The Event
Join us for a vibrant Juneteenth celebration and carnival-themed cookout as we gather in the spirit of family, fellowship, and sacred community on Erev Shabbat. Rooted in the warmth and joy of a family reunion, this day we will celebrate Black excellence, cultural legacy, and the power of coming together across generations.
Enjoy soulful music, kosher grilled food, a kosher fish fry, games, conversation, and community as we honor the resilience, creativity, and enduring strength of Black history and tradition. The afternoon will also feature a guest speaker and a communal reading from Frederick Douglass’s 1852 address, “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?” — grounding our celebration in reflection, remembrance, and collective responsibility.
Fun and intentional for the entire family--as we welcome Shabbat, we gather in joy and intention to celebrate legacy, honor those who came before us and the excellence amongst US as we continue building community…
