About The Event
At the Mount Sinai Mac & Cheese Showdown, we celebrate the rich tradition of enjoying dairy on Shavuot alongside the deep cultural legacy of mac & cheese as a dish rooted in family, history, and pride within the Black community. This competition honors both heritage and creativity, bringing our community together through food, storytelling, and friendly rivalry.
Participants may enter with an $18 registration fee, and all dishes will be evaluated by a panel of judges—including a special celebrity guest judge—with exciting prizes and bragging rights on the line.
All participants are required to fully observe the laws of kashrut, and all dishes must be prepared in a kosher kitchen. If you do not have access to one, a list of community members willing to open their kitchens will be provided.
